As it was on my way to collect my new kettle from Argos this morning, I paid a visit to the new Aldi store, which is just an extra 5 minutes drive from Tesco.
Only bought essentials, a couple of bottles for Christmas and prosecco for New Year. At least after getting confused at the mini roundabout (twice) and startling M&S food customers driving round their car park in the wrong direction, I be able to go there directly next time lo1!.
Anyone not obsessed with single malt whiskey for Xmas will be thrilled to learn of Aldi's Highland Black 8 year old blended. It's only a quid more than their regular whiskey, and imo better than any other well known blended variety. £12.99 secures a bottle.
I saw that yesterday but decided to try the Highland Earl which was £10.99 I think. It's okay, but doesn't taste that much of scotch which probably sounds a bit daft. It's too mellow for me, so I'll give the one above a try next time. I can't afford a bottle of Talisker this year, but if you're interested there's £14 off at Tesco? £25.

Among the Aldi Special Buys for Valentine’s Day this Sunday they have the JM look-a -like candles. I can’t remember if anyone had tried them and if they were good or not. They have two packs for £19.98 ( 2 Poms, Lime/Basil, Basil/ Pom ) and singles for £9.99. You can order online.
I got a set of three from 26 for Christmas. Lovely. I've got one on my desk -Lime, Basil & Mandarin- & last time I lit it Ruby wafted her tail above the flame so the room took on a singed aroma.
Pleasant enough but really not very strong at all. I bought two a while back. Lit one and meant to give the other as a gift but didn't as I could hardly smell it in the smallest room in the house. Still have it and haven't ever used it.
