Bet it looks nice. I've been dark for most of my life. Naturally and enhanced but I did go a bit stripey in the 90s.
Do you find the lighter colours more flattering for your skintone?! I'm puzzling that one. For the minute I think dark works fine with my skintone but I think at some point it might not. Ooo I hope that question doesn't come out wrong lol. Hopefully you know what I mean.
TBH either dark to light suits me, don't know why. I'm nether dark or pale skinned but somewhere in the middle so thats probably it.
I've gone down the gradual route so that I don't damage my hair so the hairdresser just did my roots a bit lighter today and then put in the highlights. She will do the same in a month ad then again the next month and it will be blond again. She could have done it in one go today but it would have taken hours and she would have had to strip out the dark colour first and I didn't want to risk the damage.
She did laugh though as she said that most people go darker for winter and lighter for summer.
Very rare to be able to go from one to t'other and both look good. Mr Tink's son is naturally blond but dyed his hair jet black. I expected it to look awful but actually it really doesn't. Well the colour doesn't. And you can't be a blond goth apparently.
I'm totally depressed with my hair at the moment, to the point where I'm only going out if I have to. I've decided to grow it long enough to wear up and at the moment it's just awful as it had so many layers. It's a nightmare to dry and style, all the highlights are gone, it's still not very grey so looks mouse. I've been blonde all my life and just hate the way it is at the moment.
A hairdresser friend has offered to do something with it for me, I think I might have to give in and keep having it highlighted for a while.
If its getting you down then I say do it, nothing makes me feel as bad as when my hair isn't right, shallow I know but if Im not happy with it then no matter what clothes I put on I feel rubbish
When I was at the hairdressers today there was a lady about my age who had the most wonderful silver blond bob, it was all natural and looked fab. I hope that one day I will be able to do that (but not yet)

I agree with Yorko. If you hate it then definitely change it. Maybe get the highlights done even if you decide to keep growing it.
Have you seen those wee grabby hair clips? Claw type clamps. I can get my hair up with a bundle of those even at its shortest. Looks a bit scruffy from behind but I can't see the back so I don't care. Or the other option is one of those Ken Paves style a do things with a few clips to help the straggly bits. It might help you through the growing out stage.
I have the kind of hair that has to have loads of layers in it. Without it hangs heavy and pulls the roots flat so I'm skilled at pinning it up with stacks of layers in it.

That's exactly how I am Y. It looks better today, I bought some hair rollers and tried them out this morning. I think I have to learn a new way of dealing with it other than a simple blow-dry. I will get it highlighted again, it's stupid making myself feel miserable.
I hadn't thought about getting hair clips yet Tinks but thanks for the ideas, I'll give it go. I've got thick hair even though it is finer now and they may jut be the thing for now.

You can buy them cheap as chips in places like Claire's Accessories so it won't cost a fortune to give it a go.
I had a disastrous haircut a while back and to put it right I ended up with a style a bit like a growing out pixie cut. My hair grows like weeds but even so .... waaaahh!!' But once it grew a bit I was able to pin it up with those. I like my hair pinned up but I don't like it short. Contrary ain't i? )
I eventually grew mine to below my shoulders from the pixie cut. Took about 8 months. Then I got it cut back to collar length which is pretty much where it stays.
Long hair doesn't suit me at all, but I had it long when I was younger and it looked great piled up on top or in a pleat. Just want to get it long enough to do that so it doesn't need cutting all the time. Whether or not I stick it out is another matter lol!
It was long last year and about ten weeks ago I decided to have it cut to just below shoulder length. Today, as it was time for a 'spruce up,' I had another inch off it and it's now shoulder length. Colleagues have said it makes me look younger (so pffftttt to all the anti-ageing creams ) and it does suit me better than being tied back all the time as it frames my face (although covering it completely would probably be the better option.) My only problem is that in high winds I look as though I've been dragged through a head backwards, until I get to a hair brush, and if it's damp then I develop a wave that I don't want. Consequently, the Ego hair straighteners that I bought a few weeks ago have been a life saver. When it was long I used to tie it back with a low ponytail coming over my shoulder (hope you understand that bizarre description) but the U.K. weather was never a problem because the style stayed where it was put, whereas now .............
