That's not Hermes though and actually probably isn't worth £380. Birkin style bags are still popular. Jasper Conran does a really good quality Birkin style bag. £150/175 new I reckon. Maybe £250 these days for mock croc.
I've got a pink mock croc Conran Birkin bag and I get a lot of people asking if its real. Well of course its real. Just a real Conran and not Hermes lol.
This would be my choice. www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/231920519029 a flipping bargarama (as Art Deco would say) at a starting bid of £20. Mine is similar but pale pink mock croc.
Ri2k ones are good quality too. www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/182100213603 And even bigger bargain but not such a well known brand maybe these days.
My leather handbag cost £18 .......... why people spend £100s on a bag makes no sense to me, I'm afraid. And my apologies to anyone who is 'into' handbags and owns expensive ones. I tend to spend that amount of money on things for the house etc.
And the only Hermes I'm familiar with is the courier company. I've never heard of Hermes bags. At least, being a 'non-fashionista' means I save money.
I'm a handbag girl definitely and probably the most expensive one I own was £500 when it was bought. Buying it new these days would be more like £750.
I would happily pay £2-300 for a handbag. But I save up for them and if I couldn't afford it then it wouldn't really bother me. And I would definitely buy second hand.
But there are things I won't splash out on. Not many granted lol but I will probably never own a brand new car again in my lifetime. My dad's just bought a new car. It cost him £8k to do the exchange. Its never worth it. He'll lose that in the first few years of driving it.
I paid £10500 for my car. An 08 plate. It would have been the best part of £40k new. So someone somewhere has lost £30k on that car in 8 years.
Most of my bags are from TK Max or eBay. I did buy one in Debenhams a while back paying more than I would normally, but that's only because I had a £20 gift voucher to offset the cost
I've seen some of your bags Tinks, and liked them. I still wouldn't spend £2-£300 pounds on one, but am willing to part with hard earned cash for other items
The thing with handbags for me is I see them as simply something to cart my junk around in, they have to be shoulder bags and one will do until I get fed up with it, although I will buy the occasional bag for a special occasion.
I could buy an expensive handbag as I'm fortunate to be financially secure, but I'm just not into handbags which, like Frazz, I regard as something to cart my junk around in. Mine is also a shoulder bag. However, when I saw my current car I just 'went for it,' although my other one was only two years old and I didn't really need another new one, and that could be regarded as rather extravagant.
However, the car means at least that my weekly trips up the M1 are an enjoyable and comfortable experience, whereas I couldn't drive 'Ooop North' in a handbag.
