Sorry Mr M but as I don't know any of the tunes and many of the bands I'll give voting a miss. All that type of 80's music passed me by also, it was more of 'The Wheels on the bus go round and round' for us! Lol
Spandau Ballet - no thanks. Tony Hadley is nothing more than a pub singer, imvho.
Spandau's first album was pretty good, but they soon started churning out cobblers like 'True' and 'Gold' and all that bollox. I blame Hadley entirely, and Gary Kemp for writing the shite.
Yes I know Martha & Her Muffins aren't New Rom, but I learnt something doing this poll. See in that band there were two Martha's, the singer and the keyboard player. Now I might have mentioned upthread a new found liking for The Associates, and this was probably bought on by seeing that keyboard playing Martha joined that band, and they most certainly were New Rom. She's lovely.
Obvs Billy McKenzie always sounded like a tomcat with it's balls caught in a mangle.
The only 3 I like are the cuts from the Eurythmics, Soft Cell (whom I have to admit I loved) and Ultravox. The rest are a combination of those I don't like and those I've never heard. I lost interest in music at the end of 1980.
'That Government is best which governs least' - Henry David Thoreau. Tomas, ta tú mo ghrá, mo chroí, mo agam agus mo rogha, a chara. Go deo.
How did I miss this when it was first posted?? My vote? Every single one of them plus every other song (well almost) from that time.
Oh all right, if you are going to pin me down:
Alphaville Associates Seagulls Depeche Mode Spandau Ballet and......absolutely way out on its own at the very, very top ....drum roll please.......
HEAVEN 17 - oh the memories.
And what about this? Uni, house drama - strip tease (more 'tease', honest) followed by a jolly good flashing of my petticoats to this - my gawd, what a night that was. And I was sober - mostly!
