Seven seconds to find an item, every move filmed and blistering 12-hours shifts with timed toilet breaks... what YOUR Christmas order does to your 'worker elves'
I couldn't do that to save my life, imagine the stress levels all day everyday
They work you to your knees, and they're not alone.
I recall when Mrs M's job was under threat earlier this year she mentioned she might apply to Lidl, at least for a temporary period.
She wouldn't have lasted five minutes with her illness. Granted they're paid well there, but they have their staff on the go non stop. As soon as the tills are clear of customers, they're up sweeping the floor or filling shelves. I even saw one cashier leap up and move some boxes while a customer offloaded their trolly. And they work 12 hour shifts there too.
I worked for them for 8 years (in the office not the shops). We were extremely well paid but boy did they get their moneys worth, when you broke it down on an hourly basis the money wasn't that fantastic

Is Mrs M's job still under threat or has that now been resolved?

After a few months of short time, one of the girls left which allowed the remaining three to have their old hours back. Absolutely nothing was said since about any closure, but apparently it's the Sunderland branch that's struggling now, so it looks like the bosses are going on the same charm offensive there.
Interestingly, in these times of money saving, the bosses have asked staff if they'd like to come to the annual Xmas meal/party. Most said yes, but Mrs M has told them where to shove it on principle. Two faced shysters, we couldn't afford our proper holiday this year because of their actions.

I don't like the way Amazon operate and I have refused to buy anything from them. After they finally stepped up to honour their tax liabilities I have bought a couple of things from them. But I don't see the quality of service everyone raves about. It's taken me weeks to get the toothbrush heads I ordered. A garden table bought from there for me as a gift was delivered damaged.
This article is enough for me not to bother with them in the future. But I'm so used to not shopping with them, it's not difficult.
I wouldn't shop at Sports Direct either. But Mr Tink's son works there. He was at one store and treated well. Moved to another and treated badly. He's moved back and again he's been well treated. I think the stores reflect the manager rather than the company.
