I see Tesco are maximising their deliveries by offering a flexi time slot of 4 hours, and it's cheaper.
I booked for tomorrow between 6-11pm for £1.50. They will let me know tomorrow which hourly slot it will be. Makes sense, I have often seen the van go down/up the road within an hour of when I've have been expecting a delivery. I asked the driver once why they don't call to see if customer can take their delivery early, but he said they are not allowed to and the time they deliver is recorded. How daft is that and increases their costs.
I like ordering for after 6pm as you can update your order up to 12.45pm on the day of delivery.
You can now also have a delivery after 6pm the same day, provided you order before 1pm. I had a look at the flexi options for that and there were £1.50 choices as well on non-prime days.

They are cunning oop North Frazz with their regulars- we quite often get the van outside earlier. They don't 'knock on' but if you are around and open the door you get your delivery. I get an hour option so I'm not having to hang around.

Saved my sanity when I could not drive and was dependent on Mr FP. Only used Tesco because of the demisec cava so if they have stopped stocking it I may try another supermarket.
I started using delivery due to not being able to drive on various occasions, I find it useful now once a month to get all the heavy and bulky stuff like cat food, tinned food, essential beverages etc. The other godsend is scan and pack at the store, which is the only reason I stick mainly to Tesco. I'm very disappointed that Sainsburys don't have the facility.
The two things together have made life much easier.

I don't enjoy shopping with Mr FP lily and he doesn't enjoy shopping at all. He did drive me to the shops when I couldn't drive and he does bring the shopping in from the boot.
I too haven't used a home delivery system for myself, just for my Mum (who lived a very long distance away) when she needed some bulkier shopping done. Sainsburys were reliable so we didn't try any other supermarkets.
Mostly OH comes shopping with me as he's trained himself well to pack the shopping bags and heave them in and out of the boot. Bless!
OH always comes shopping with me, which is just as well or we would never have any food in the house. I can't drive into the city so he has to. Luckily he quite likes shopping.
We always have breakfast out on Saturday mornings and then do the shopping. We enjoy our routine.
I don't have a delivery any more. I used to do a bulk delivery when Baby Tink and Alf were both still with me. It wasn't quite so necessary when Baby Tink moved out and now without Alf my cat food delivery has been cut by at least two thirds. It just isn't worth it.
