It's very bright. Is that grating running along the floor in front of the window settee? That would be a disaster here. It would be more up than down as Himself is prone to a condition called 'dropsy' or 'oops!'
Fabulous room, like the fireplace and the picture. Don't like the colour scheme or hard floors, and I would definitely need curtains or blinds at the windows to tone down the light and close in the evening. There is a house near me that never draw curtains, you can't help but look in at night if you are passing, it would freak me out thinking some weirdo might be lurking and watching you.

Underfloor heating??
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.
I love period properties with all their original features and I'm surprised that I even like the wooden floors! I agree with Frazz that the beautiful bay window is crying out for some dramatic curtains
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
This was the bay window at our last house. Our neighbour was a curtain maker and he created the most amazing pelmet to echo the design of the ceiling cornice.
The raspberry colour wouldn't have been my first choice but we already had those chairs and there was a raspberry coloured carpet theoughout the house.

I don't draw my downstairs curtains. I think it comes from having been brought up in the arse end of nowhere. I know I've lived in a town for years but once I'm indoors I seem to forget that but. Mr Tink thinks I'm doolally.
Again, high ceilings! Not so keen on the furnishings but that is easily changed. You can't add an extra couple of feet to your ceilings very easily!!
We have only ever bought 2 houses - both brand new. They are ok but to some extent are featureless boxes with low ceilings. I would really love an older house but Mr EB won't entertain the idea - he doesn't like the thought that someone has been all over the place doing who knows what for who knows how long!!
Best one so far, love the dimensions of the room, it is similar to the house we sold in the U.K. We lovingly had the beautiful original bay windows restored as they were a bit dilapidated when we moved in.There was a frieze of genuine stained glass around the top. The people that bought the house had them ripped out straight away and had PVC replacements. It broke our hearts and I have never been back down that road since.
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.
