Plans to step up its overhaul comes a year after it first announced that it would shut 30 of its larger UK stores, with a further 45 being downsized or converted to food-only, while also axing 53 loss-making international stores. It will also slam the brakes on its Simply Food store opening programme amid "difficult" trading and launch a "significant" cost review under the next push of its turnaround plan. Times must be bad.
There's a whopper on the outskirts of Cardiff -cafe, food hall, homewares, BUT the bonus is TK Maxx is just across the road! I think it's fair to say I'm there quite often. I do like a rummage.
Up until earlier this year we had 2 in our vicinity
One large one with furniture and everything else on a retail park and another small one in the town centre that had been around forever, the small one has now closed which is a shame as a lot of older folk would go into town on the bus and have a mooch. You can't get to the big one easily without a car
I'd really miss any of ours if they were to close, especially at this time of the year when I always buy scarves, gloves etc Then there is my underwear of course. Won't buy from anywhere else.
There is a smallish one in the local shopping mall which I pop into if I'm in town. If it closed, I wouldn't bother to buy online without free returns. It would be hassle to go to the next nearest one.
Well I must be in an odd bubble of an area. I've got one in my local high street. And they're opening a large one in the other high street I can easily get too. Plus they've just opened one near Mr Tink. And o can get to a large megastore in about 15/20 minute drive.

They've recently opened a large M&S store in the new retail park near me. There's also a small food store about 4 miles away in the next town. I wasn't bowled over by their clothes, when I popped in to have a look with a friend recently, and the only thing I've bought from them in the last 20 years was online - a lightweight robe for hospital for when I had my knee replaced.
I do like their food but think it's expensive.
I think it's online shopping that's affecting all these stores and I am probably contributing to their problems because I rarely go to the dreaded High Street now, preferring to order online instead.

That’s the good thing about the Food Halls as you get free delivery and returns. They have built around the one near me so as well as a TK Maxx and the Pet thingy at the other end is an Aldi, Card shop ( not needed for me), Home Bargains and a Costa Coffee. I haven’t ventured across to that half yet. It’s really easy to access from the bypass and plenty of parking space.
I so hope they don't close the 2 we have here.I am not a lover of their tops which seem to be all rounded necks and funny sleeves, but I can buy jeans and jeggings that actually fit me properly there and underwear, of course. It is such a pleasure to have British sizing as sizes here are hit and miss and tend to be on the small side.
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.
