In case the predicted blizzards actually happens towards the end of next week, I thought I'd better have a cook up to replenish my freezer meals, get plenty of cat food etc. It's not easy getting out of this road if there are a few inches of snow, not that I'd even want to.
Obviously, I was not alone with this thought, it was like Christmas Eve at Tesco lol!
Years ago, when our village was snowed in, I made a sledge -Yes I did too- so I could get a calor gas bottle for the heater. I built if out of all the bits of 'in case' wood Himself keeps in the garage. It was so well made it was too heavy to drag along the snow empty
Our forecast is for snow this afternoon into tomorrow morning, with heavy snow forecast before Wednesday. Whether that means inches of the white stuff or a few flakes remains to be seen but it beggars belief that mass panic breaks out if snow is forecast. When I was a child, we often had to walk to school in 2 foot plus of snow and yet nowadays 2 flakes grind the country to a halt.
When we do have a few inches of snow I can't get out of the Close easily as I'm on a hill, but thankfully I don't have to venture out for work any more. I do have another trip to the dentist on Wednesday and a visit to the hygienist this afternoon, but other than that I've no commitments until my weekly trip Ooop North at the weekend.
I do take note of the impending bad weather though because my son sets off for work at 5.30 a.m. so I just hope the gritter lorries do a good job.
We've had a bit of a go here in Surrey. Snow showed rather than persistent snow. I'm just heading to the office now. I shall stay for a while but will bring home everything I need do I can work at home for a day or two if I need to. Please god let the home office printer work if I need it to. It's a temperamental beast to say the least.
I had to pop to Tesco's first thing as I only had enough cat food for two days and I was almost out of milk and managed to get back before it snowed. It's very pretty out there now and it's settling, although not quite enough to make a snowman yet
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
