Me too, sick of it now and it's not even as hot up here as down there. At work it's like sitting in a greenhouse all day, and it's set my gout off as warm weather so often does so I'm doubly uncomfortable. Our bedside fan is a godsend but I got sent to the spare room the other night for snoring, if that happens tonight I'll never sleep as it's mafting in there.
Putting the fan in the lounge didn't break the heatwave and I was so hot in bed last night I've got another one out for the bedroom and that's usually the kiss of death. Wimbledon weather is either wet or very hot so I doubt there'll be much change for at least another week or so
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
The farming forecast for next week tonight is getting cooler up North but remaining hot in the South and South Wales. Bit cooler here mid week then building again for the weekend. It's getting silly now!
The long-range forecast:
Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days
UK Outlook for Friday 13 Jul 2018 to Sunday 22 Jul 2018:
Friday will be dry and warm again across many parts of the UK though there may be a few showers. Next weekend looks like staying mainly warm and fine though there will probably be more cloud around than the weekend we've just had, and perhaps a few showers. In the following week, the weather may well turn more changeable and somewhat cooler. There will be an increasing chance of showers, possibly thundery in the south, and bands of cloud and rain and stronger winds are likely from the northwest, weakening as they move southeastwards. However, there will still be a good deal of fine and sunny weather, the best of this most likely in the southeast.
UK Outlook for Sunday 22 Jul 2018 to Sunday 5 Aug 2018:
Changeable conditions are set to continue through the start of this period with showers likely, perhaps thundery in the south, or further spells of rain, especially in the north and northwest. However, there is low confidence for how long these conditions will last. Some further spells of fine, settled weather will probably return later in the month for many areas. Temperatures are likely to be above average for many with further very warm spells possible, most likely in the south. Temperatures will be closer to average in any unsettled spells, these most likely in the north and northwest.

I've got a plan, I'm going to look at getting an air-conditioning unit, so stand by for the wettest, coldest August on record. Every other month so far this year has been a record, June the driest I heard someone say.
You know when it gets so hot, you just don't care anymore . . .
I don't wear shorts and my kaftan was drying, it took me so long to put my trousers back on when the doorbell rang, my friends were on their way home by the time I opened the door.
Himself is quite confident that it will cool down & rain as soon as the school kids break for summer. I don't share his confidence. The lack of sleep at night is giving me the whirling pits.

Always a problem here in summer, Frazz. Worst thing is when I am out and have to use a public loo and it takes an age to pull my cutoffs and underwear back up. Sorry for the somewhat graphic image, but it really is unpleasant and I invariably get someone banging on the door which doesn't help.
Now that I have made friends with the new washing machine and discovered the 14 minute 'refresh' programme, it's a Godsend. As soon as we get home, all clothes straight into the machine.
Oh, and try getting one of those comfort bras on in the heat. I wear them round the house and they roll up into a sausage somewhere round my middle and have to be wrestled with to get them to cover the parts they are supposed to, by which time, I am sweating again....
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.

I am treating here as if it was abroad and wearing my shorts around the house but daren’t go out in them , am having to wear shift dresses ( no waists!) as I don’t have a kaftan. Last night was the most uncomfortable yet but it seems slightly cooler upstairs now. Going out for a special Wimbledon Afternoon Tea so it will be a frock day.St Swithin’s Day on the 15th is our best day for a downpour but if we get 40 more we will soon forget the heat wave.
