Bit of a kerfuffle in the crafting world as it seems Sheena has infringed copyright laws and it will take some sorting out. CC are sticking with her but she has ‘ taken a step back’. My little bottle of glycerine is thanks to Sheena. I wonder if she will come back fom this. The Crafting World is not without its scandals - those two plonkers who were on C&C being at No 1 ( Barry and Alan) then there is that company who sold die cutting machines that didn't work ( don't want to get Y into trouble) , the woman who ripped off other people's ideas ( still on C&C) and dear Steph who goes bankrupt as does another papercrafter ( Yorkshire nameless) not to miss out dear Julian and his Craft Channel.
I know nothing of this, apart from Craftwork Cards being done over by create and craft and I don't know any of the presenters unless they used to be on QVC. I find C&C difficult to watch, all that fake bonhomie and wittering gets on my nerves. At least QVC made no secret of the hard sell and got on with it.

I had to get these links from elsewhere as I don’t do FB.
As many of you may be aware, yesterday Sheena made the decision to take a step back from both Crafter’s Companion and designing for the time being. We're sure you can appreciate, knowing her love for the craft world, she didn’t take this decision lightly.
Unfortunately, it’s been a difficult few weeks for Sheena and she has been incredibly hurt by accusations made against her. This has been a large part of her decision to step away and we’re all saddened that she has been made to feel this way. She was perhaps naive in what she did but is extremely remorseful and has learnt a hard lesson.
Sheena acted completely independently, and although we as a company are disappointed by her actions, we understand that we’re all human and we all make mistakes, so we are fully supporting her to get through this period and to move forward.
In the meantime, we are working closely with Sheena to fully understand the protection on the images in question, and are reaching out to any image-holders to gain retrospective authority to use these images under their agreement. This will ensure that these products will be fully covered by our Fair Usage Policy, and will allow our customers to continue to use them in the same way as all of our others.
Over 40 images copied? Surely no-one is that naive? It is perfectly clear on the web that these images have copyright and you can easily google non-copyright items as I often do if I want to use an image.

I assume she thought that by drawing her version of the image it was ok - she has not used the photo as is. Some of the images in that article are difficult to do any other way to some extent - a van is a van and a typewriter is fairly standard, as is the owl. She has been very naive (or very arrogant, but I like her so am being kind) but surely she doesn't actually make the stamps herself, there must be some sort of QC or whatever which maybe should have picked this up early on?
I have some of her stamps (though none in the article) but as I don't sell my cards anymore I shall continue to use them.

I like her too EarlyBird and have some of her stamps - the cocktail glass being one of them. This has been going on for a long time so I am surprised it hasn’t been outed before. ‘They’ say she blocked a post on her FB page and would not answer the poster about this which has led to the current backlash. I would have thought as it is well known that Sheena is connected to CC that they would have been made aware and investigated as they won’t want this affecting their business. I think she bit off more than she could chew and committed herself to producing more than she had the ideas or time for.Her success has brought her down. It isn’t right if original artists have been left without payment.
No, it isn't right but a photo of a building, for example, is a difficult one as the building itself isn't copyrighted (unless you build a copy presumably!), only the photo but how do you say which photo was used as there may be dozens all looking very similar, if not identical. Heck, who's to say you didn't take one yourself and draw from that? Photos of people (or some animals) in a particular pose or clothing style are a different matter and a drawing someone else has done is fairly obvious.
I personally don't think she did it deliberately, as I said, I just think she has been very naive. A victim of her own success definitely. I don't think she is a business person at all so I would assume somebody handles that side of things for her and perhaps they should have picked up on it.
