'Just one in seven' Black Friday deals are real discounts as Amazon and Very were exposed as the worst retailers overall for dubious discounts, with more than 70% of analysed products cheaper at other times of the year compared to their Black Friday price. (Sky News)
The chap talking about this today said they found 80% had been on sale cheaper or at the same price earlier in the year. As for Amazon, I doubt I buy from more than once or twice a year, spend a little more time and you will mostly find what you are looking for at many other retailers, eBay and the likes, with P&P and fast delivery included.
It has never been any different, I doubt Jeff Bezos will miss my custom though.
I’ve done all my Christmas shopping and don’t need anything for myself, so I’m taking no notice of Black Friday this year. Typical of Royal Mail to be going on strike from Friday and on Monday though so some people may have a wait for their goods, unless the companies use couriers,
I’ve also been getting Black Friday emails for the past month 🙄 which somehow takes the lustre off the actual day.
Anyone bought anything in the Black Friday sales yet?
My original Gtech Airram is now 6 or 7 years old and although it's still working OK the on and off switch intermittantly won't turn off without difficulty so I had a look at Gtech's Black Friday offers and I ordered an AirRam K9 which was £100 off. I put it all together and while it fully charged I vacuumed the carpets with the old one then did them again with the K9. Obviously technology and design has moved on and unlike the old one the new one is the animal version but I was absolutely amazed at the amount of cat hair it picked up, the carpets look so much cleaner!
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong

The AirRam Mark ll that I leave upstairs (it saves lugging it up and down the stairs) finally died a month ago, so I’ve been taking the Shark anti hair wrap up and down the stairs. I was interested in the new AirRam Platinum which also has anti hair wrap technology but, when first released, it was a tad pricey. It also has a 60 minute run time, but I never take that long to hoover so one charge lasts quite a while.
I’ve regularly checked the GTech website and, lo and behold, the Platinum was one of their Black Friday deals so I ordered it and it arrived last Thursday. I’m glad that I waited because it was £120 cheaper than the original price. Like DD, I agree the technology has improved although it’s been pretty good since the AirRams were brought out. I’m surprised that the underfelt wasn’t sucked through the carpet as the suction is very good. A bonus is that the Mark ll battery is compatible with the Platinum so that means I’ve got a spare one. It also comes with a scented filter capsules which means hoovering is now a fragrant activity. 😉
The Shark is now upstairs and the Platinum will be used downstairs.
So although I’ve finished my Christmas shopping (and it’s wrapped) I decided it was time to treat myself.
I could be very tempted by this as my original Air Ram is slowing down but I've had far too much expense this month already - a hefty car service plus two new tyres and I had to buy a new fridge/freezer yesterday.
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.

No contest. You can't keep chilled Christmas booze in a GTech
Ouch, Nellie! That's a lot of expense all at once.
It would have been a lot more if the thieving bastards at Suzuki had their way.
Against my better judgement, I was conned into using the new main dealer for the service (long, boring story) and they were recommending that the key fob batteries needed changing at £45 each (£5 online for batteries and a free YouTube video to show you how it's done), £85 to freshen up the A/C (I was told years ago that if you run it all the time, even with the heating, it doesn't ever need 'refreshing'), £60 to replace the "out of date" sealant kit to fix a dodgy tyre (they failed to spot the spare tyre I invested in when they were on offer - plus that's why I have RAC membership) and they wanted £180 each for the new tyres that I got replaced elsewhere at £120 for the pair.
