“Like its parent veggies, the kalette is loaded with nutrients and health benefits. It's full of vitamin K (a whopping 120 percent of your daily recommended amount!), folate, vitamin c (40 percent of your daily value) and carotenoids, and it's got tons of a fibre.”
I do use kale for smoothies, but oddly, these seem to have passed me by. I spotted them in Lidl yesterday, and they are delicious!
Apart from being good for you, they only take 3-4 minutes to cook or you can eat them raw.
I expect someone will now say they have been around for ages lol!
They are not as strong flavoured as ordinary kale, very slightly sweet and tender. I shall buy them regularly now, not sure if they are season available, I can buy kale all year. Waitrose, Lidl and Morrisons seem to sell them, not sure about Tesco etc.
I tried one raw today, I think if you sliced them thinly, they would be nice in a salad instead of lettuce.
I'm going to Lidl next week to stock up so I'll buy those if they have any. (I love sprouts 😳 and I love kale. In fact, I don't think that there's a vegetable that I don't like.)
Kale is not available here, except in the occasional health food store and it is extremely expensive so the chances of trying mini-kale are...ummmm ...MINImal.
Instead, we have Horta, which is translated on most Greek menus as 'weeds', which is exactly what they are. I wouldn't dare gather any, as the Greeks do, as you really need to know what to pick - a bit like mushroom gathering, you have to know which are poisonous.A few years ago, some of the wrong type got into a Supermarket batch and people started to suffer from hallucinations and a couple died!
Anyway, many of the 'weeds' resemble , and taste, a bit like kale. Those particular ones, I dehydrate and enjoy them as crisps.
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.

Think I'll stick with cheese and onion if it's all the same.
What a terrible thread.
LOL! (Shhhh, Don't tell anyone, but nicely salted kale chips don't taste like kale and are really nice sprinkled with parmesan in the last few minutes of dehydration . I have given them to my greens-hating grandchildren and they love them.)

Not very keen on celeriac or fennel, and I don't like sweet potatoes. I've tried them in different ways, but not for me. Strange, because I love swede, squash, parsnips etc.
