If I'm at the front of the house & see them walk up the drive, I like to fling open the door as they are about to knock and see them jump. They forget all their opening patter. You've got to grab entertainment when it passes around here LOL
When I retired a friend who works from home warned me about the amount of salesmen etc that called during the day she said I should check who was at the door before answering it, good advice they're a right pain!
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
Not as easy as Wiltshire foods as I believe they come ready to heat up, this bloke was flogging ingrediants to cook yourself sarcastic-laugh-smiley-emoticon-1
My philosophy on door-to-door salesmen is simply if it's a good product, then sell it through a store. There's usually a negative reason why someone sells a product door-to-door instead of supplying their product through a store. I won't buy anything from someone at my door, even if it's chocolate candy.
I never buy anything at the door, if I want something I do my research, check prices or get several estimates and only then decide if I want it and where to buy it

How many of us have notices on or by our doors stating that we will not buy from... "hawkers" - is that the term?
I dont have a no hawkers notice but do have one that says no trick or treaters that comes out every year (miserable cow)
That's a good one though I think. Some children will do it unaccompanied which isn't a great idea if going knocking on doors of strangers. We don't get them call here the house being what it is. But if I was on my own I probably would turn the tv down, turn the lights off and hide under a table until they went away.
