My advice would be to start scattering slug pellets if you use them now. Get them on your hostas before they come up. The slugs will be ready and waiting, so should you be.
Now my absolute godsend is that my allotment is very close to the canal so it has very sandy but very fertile soil. Slugs and snails hate it. They can't get around. So we have very few. Other than these hooooje ones that some greedy bird has picked up for supper and dropped on the way home.
Mr Tink gives em flying lessons over the other side of the canal.
Well there's always that yarn that's trotted out that if you nip the over the fence they'll come back. We're banking on the fact they can't slime their way across a large expanse of water.
