Waterloo, Mamma Mia, Fernando, Dancing Queen, Knowing Me Knowing You, The Name Of The Game, Take A Chance On Me, The Winner Takes It All and Super Trouper (1980) ALL number ones.
Just like Nellie, there are some I like and some I loathe in most lists. If I had to pick one it would be 1984 A - on the basis that I own all bar the last 2!!
I love the 60s and 70s too, and can sing along with most of the songs from then, but the 80s are my time and any song from that era brings back such wonderful memories. The opening bars and I am instantly transported back there!

Heck no! 'I was looking for a job and then I found a job, and heaven knows, I'm miserable now' just about summed me up in 1984!! The missing 2 are Grandmaster Flash and Prince!

Well at least the original 7" is the one featured on Hatful Of Hollow which I consider a poor compilation in comparison, say, to The World Won't Listen and Louder Than Bombs. There are some ropey session versions on that, notably Reel Around The Fountain and Still Ill.
They bit me too, my cousin Andrew lent me that single so in fact it was the first Smiths song I heard before they kind of took over my musical life for a few years.
