OMG listen to this!
Maia Gough from Wales. As soon as the music started I thought, WOW, it's my favourite Whitney Houston song. But I was never expected this. It blew me to pieces and the whole of the audience too. Maia is twelve years old. With the right training and a fancy pop name just imagine where this young lady could be in ten years time. Surely she will have the world at her feet.

its...what's the word i'm looking for?....out of this world!!!
We saw this at our friends house (don't watch BGT), and whilst I agree she has a lovely voice, I dont agree with children being on these sorts of programmes.
She is going to get a lot of media attention and the pressure will be immense
I hope her parents can keep things as normal as possible for her but its going to be hard
Good luck to her though, she does have an amazing voice, although I don't like that style of singing and could never really listen to Whitney Houston for long (same with Mariah Carey). bit to much warbling for my taste

I agree with Cog too. Even I raised this point two series back with many others. My point then was about mixing children with adults - they maybe should have their own talent show. But that doesn't tackle the issue of the pressure and exposure so I do see that. The other issue I had is why it is called Britain's Got Talent when they allow other countries to join in (last night even the crazy German couple were back). But still, I am a fan of the show and think it was okay to post this video?
I'm not a fan of children's voices at all generally. It may have something to do with the high pitch. Or the geekiness. Who can remember Aaron Carter. Then there was the sickly appeal of things like St. Winifred's School Choir. On the other hand Paul Miles-Kingston singing Pie Jesu with Sarah Brightman is spine-chillingly beautiful. And this, from XTC has a child singing and after many years of not knowing, the singer is a girl not a boy as I first thought.
I find this irritating, knowing the truth, that in the video they use a boy miming the girl's voice, a bit weird they chose to do that but it's one of my favourite XTC songs.
The first verse and closing line are sung by eight-year-old Jasmine Veillette, the daughter of a friend of producer Todd Rundgren. In the video a boy lip-syncs her vocals. The lyrics are addressed to God, and vividly describe the range of human suffering, which the narrator attributes to God. Partridge concludes every verse with the line "I can't believe in you". The lyrics express doubt as to the existence of God ("Did you make mankind after we made you?"), the omnibenevolence of God ("The wars you bring, the babes you drown, those lost at sea and never found"), and the value of the Bible as God's word ("Us crazy humans wrote it [...] Still believin' that junk is true / well, I know it ain't and so do you").

I used to watch Junior Showtime too Y. There will always be talented youngsters but far too often they burn and crash out as adults because of the way their careers have been managed. Daniel Radcliffe seems to have made it as a well adjusted adult.I agree with Cog's comments. I don't watch any of these talent shows although I did use to watch New Faces many moons ago.

That Tony Hatch was harsh on New Faces I recall which is a bit rich considering he is best know for writing this music LOL
