I've only had two irons during my married life. The most recent one *cough* is a Rowenta. It has a detachable water reservoir which means it's easy to bung under the tap & slot it back in position on the iron thingy. A few years ago I dropped it & Himself stuck it with sellotape. It still works. I threw my ironing board out a few years ago when I found it had gone rusty in the garage. I bought a table top ironing board instead and that gets used when I've got any sewing to do. I don't understand the obsession with ironing, I really don't. I wash & spin it, shake it & hang it on the line. Dresses, skirts, cardigans etc hang on a coat hanger outside - not too wide a coat hanger mind (I kept the kiddies coat hangers) or you create marks on the shoulders. T shirts are folded over and pegged under the armpit so no peg marks show. The only time I ironed was when I had to iron shirts.
You may want to add this to your list of bonkers ironing confessions. I saw a programme about a swanky hotel somewhere where the chamber maids iron the clean duvet covers - again - once they are on the bed for a completely smooth, unruffled look. I tried this when we were selling our house last year. Not saying it was the clincher but.........
I hate ironing, btw, but I hate wrinkles even more.
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.

Whilst I don't do all my ironing if I did then bedding, tablecloths, tea towels, Liz Earle muslin cloths would all be in my ironing basket. Well they are. I just don't necessarily iron them myself. Very little doesn't get ironed here.
Mum used to iron everything .......... bras, pants, handkerchiefs, towels, you name it, she ironed it. She'd be soooooo ashamed of me though. I've got an iron which is at the back of my kitchen cupboard and I've only use it once since I moved in here in November 2009 and that was to press the hems on a pair of curtains I'd altered.
But, don't worry, I don't walk around in creased clothes ........ it's all easy care stuff and I avoid cotton and linen like the plague. Everything I own stays crease free if it's drip dried or tumbled. I picked up a top in Asda on Monday but, when I got to the check out, it had already creased from being in my trolley, so I put it back. I know some people find ironing therapeutic, but I've can think of things that I'd far rather do with my time. And not owning an ironing board also means that I don't feel the need to do it.
