I've showered Alf a couple of times. Diarrhoea and a furry backside aren't good companions. He just stood there and let me do it but my two aren't afraid of water and are the most placid creatures ever.

I wouldn't do it just because.

It's an American thing.nearly all my American friends bathe their cats and keep them indoors or in covered runs. Unless it is absolutely necessary for the reasons mentioned above or medical reasons, I think it is cruel. There are cats that love water, of course, we had to keep the bathroom door firmly closed when bathing the kids as our Siamese kittens would dive into the bath with them.
A lot of the 'cute' noises cats make in these videos are actually acute distress.
