I had a massive throw out session before Christmas and ended up with 6 black bin liners of clothes and shoes. It might have been 7 actually. I charged round the house like a demon pushing 25 and 26 out of the way in their bedrooms hurling their 'rubbish'into the bags ignoring their cries of "I might wear that!".
I am not sure of this 'clothes have feelings' lark though.
Mr Nell and I are both hoarders but not especially untidy - he less so than me (I always said he could get at job at Benetton folding sweaters) - so downsizing last year was very challenging as we didn't dispose of as much stuff as we should have done. Still haven't and there are about another 50 boxes to unpack!
Bugger their feelings!
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.
If stacking by colour, arranging socks by thickness and so on is something that makes you happy, feel fulfilled, whatever, then that's great, and I admire your organisational skills immensely.
Personally, I can't even wrap my brain around the concept of being that organised - it just doesn't compute! As long as I can find what I am looking for then I am happy. Sometimes a top I want slips into a black hole temporarily but, for the most part, I'm ok. I have a wardrobe which has stuff on hangers - my 'fancier' pieces - but the rest of my clothes are either piled on the floor in the bedroom (no storage) or on a chair in the lounge so I don't have to go upstairs if I need to change (not through laziness, honest!) and I rifle through each day.
I really hope clothes don't have feelings - mine will be seriously pi**ed off with me!

It's not organisational EB - it has made finding my socks easier. Before although rolled they were piled up. Now they are like books on a shelf so I can see each individual pair and there is room for more. For some reason different socks have an effect on the way my arthritic ankle feels on any given day and now it is easier to find that soothing pair. I know, it's bizarre.
I'm naturally uncluttered so keeping the place uncluttered is easy. But if you like clutter, what the hell. As long as you can use your space in the way you want then that's fine.
I couldn't cope in a Mr Tink's parents house. Lordy there was clutter everywhere but particularly in the dining room. You could barely sit at the table. But then I realised that they don't sit at the table other than on high days and holidays so it worked for them. It just wouldn't work for me. We eat at the dining table every night.
My sock drawer is in no danger. For one who loves colour, oddly, all my socks are black. The only coloured socks I have are gifts and they fairly quickly find themselves at the charity shop lol.
And finally, where might you move to Cog?! I'm guessing maybe somewhere a long way from where you are now.
If particular socks help or hinder, FP, then it makes sense to have a system where you can find the right ones. I have to say I used to spend ages sorting the boys' school socks and Mr EB's work socks - matching not only colour but, as most were black, I would match ribbing size, heel stitching and the finish inside the toes to make sure they properly matched. I got told off once as the shades of black were very slightly different so I was extra careful! Never did mine though.
It has just occurred to me that I am bordering on OCDish when it comes to putting stuff away in the kitchen - Mr EB gets severe grief if he doesn't put things in the right place. He claims he can't see what the right place is but I just don't understand how he can not see. Surely it is obvious that a square dish goes in the square dish pile etc. If only I could apply some of that logic to the rest of my stuff. Hey ho!
And if you think I am exaggerating my clothing piles........

It being a grey afternoon and the sport being on television I have sorted the lingerie drawer as well- not keen on her bra stacking method but the knicker folding is good.
