An 18 book series by Faith Martin featuring DI Hillary green - a middle aged female detective who has a solid record for solving murders. Excellent books, interesting cases, no silly unbelievable plot lines, a great discovery.

Yes, I have read a lot of hers , and also her new series about a crime solving cook , the Jenny Starling series. Only heard those on audio. I know there is going to be a new Faith Martin featuring Hilary soon as she is being brought back. For an ex Newcastle lass have you tried the Poppy Denby Investigates series by Fiona Veitch Smith? It actually references the theatre where Mr and Mrs FP Major belong.
The Radleys by Matt Haig for my book group. They are a family of vampires, although the children aren't aware of that at the beginning of the book, living a quiet "normal" life in a village near York, away from the temptations of London. All that changes when the teenage daughter is propositioned once too often by the school sleazebag.
I'm thoroughly enjoying it, especially the cultural references to supposedly dead musicians and singers (Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison et al) who are known vampires and alive and well and performing for their own kind in "special clubs" in Manchester.

For the benefit of those unfortunate enough to be afflicted with dyslexia, I would just like to point out that Cnut was, in fact, none other than good old King Canute...
Sorry it's black and white, but colour film hadn't been invented back then...
I keep forgetting about this thread. Since I last posted, I have read a load more books among them a really addictive series by Bill Kitson but have just finished reading a 5 book series The Freeman Files by Ted Tayler. I then found out he has completed a sixth one so have just downloaded it.The first five only cost me $ 2.59.

Gold star Nellie! I have been listening rather than reading. I am alternating between the historical Gil Cunningham crime books set around Glasgow and the new Faith Martin series Ryder and Loveday. I reheard the whole of my Paul Temple , Ngiao Marsh, Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister in early lockdown as an alternative to lockdown comfort food. I find literature soothing when there is ‘stuff’ going on.
