I didn't know they were banned but knew they weren't native to Australia, they were introduced by us when we established it as a penal colony presumably as a food source

I knew about myxomatosis but had not realised that it had been introduced into Australia and other countries deliberately to control the rabbit population.
Mixy in the wild is horrific. It can wipe out the local rabbit population. My dad is a soft hearted farmer and he hates seeing rabbits with mixy. He wouldn't normally kill a rabbit, for food or for sport but he did if they had mixy. Not so much of a problem these days as it used to be.
