The traditional crescent-shaped croissant has fallen out of favour with British consumers, who now prefer the straight variety of the breakfast pastry because it is easier to spread with jam. One supermarket says the curved croissant has become so unpopular that the chain will only offer the straight version from now on.
From tomorrow Tesco will no longer sell the crescent-shaped French pastry, in a change that will affect nearly one million a week of the supermarket’s own label products, which are currently curved.
