My post code has won the Postcode Lottery! I'm going to get vouchers and discounts at various stores and restaurants, on top of the cash prize! I just had to give certain details to confirm who I was, and over the age of 18.
I was fascinated and listened for nearly 2 minutes, politely adding the odd "mmm, right", until I got bored.
Ah yes, this is the one where you have to confirm your details which sounds like a scam but is in fact perfectly safe and legit. However most people give up after 2 minutes, but if you last another 20 seconds you win £5,000,000.

I fell for a scam this morning but managed to stop it before they got away with anything. I could not access my bank accounts to check no money had gone because the Apps were down so foolishly clicked on a link to my Argos account to check nothing had been ordered in my name following an email that said a TV was being delivered to someone in Stafford on Monday. Should have realised thieves would have wanted the telly straight away ! When I tried to get into my Argos account the password would not work. Anyway rang Argos directly and was given the link to change my password. Be warned the email looked exactly like the ones you get from Argos, the give away was it said it had used an Argos Store card and I don’t have one.I thought someone has set up one in my name.
I had a recorded message from my "bank" this morning telling me to contact them about possible fraud on my credit card, using the following number.... After doing a number of checks, I was satisfied it was not genuine. The unnerving thing was however, they used "This is a message for - using my full name.
Whoops! It was a message from my bank. Despite all my checks on numbers, online activity etc, it was genuine and concerned my debit card. I switched my mobile on late last night to receive a one-time pass code and found an earlier message on the phone asking if I recognised three recent purchases, which I didn’t. Assuming this was from the bank, I rang them. I asked why I hadn’t seen the activity in my account, it was because the iPhone scammer used was already a blocked number with the bank.
I only got this debit card a couple of weeks ago and had used once at a local Sainsburys garage, in store, with pin number to activate it. The scamming started before it was used again. I only use it online for supermarket shopping and rare times where you can’t use a credit card. The bank has switched from Visa to Mastercard, I got the impression from comments made they may be having an issue with some of the new cards.
Hey-ho. Lessons learned for me, annoying new passwords, and I have wait for another new card. The scammer had spent in Tesco a couple of times, perhaps I’ll get the clubcard points.
I had forgotten about my C&C today and whilst typing this, got a phone call from Tesco to say they couldn’t take the payment. I forgot the old card had been cancelled lol!
There are no amounts to refund Y, because the scammers iphone was already blocked by the bank, the fraud never made it into my account. Odd one, because I couldn't see any action in my account is why I ignored the landline phone call. I'll know now if my full name is used in a recorded message to ring and check it out.
I find it odd there is no indication of your banks name in these messages and texts, no doubt there is a good reason.
However, as I haven’t downloaded the track and trace app or the NHS one, I knew it was a scam, but thought I’d post it here, after finding this “alert” post online, just in case ……
I had a BT Broadband one a couple of days ago, the usual problem with router etc.
He had an American accent, so I told him if he wanted to try on a scam perhaps he should polish up his knowledge on international time zones, it was 06:45! As I was still half asleep, I forgot to add any abuse.
