This makes interesting reading- surprised the Microsoft scam is still working though. I had a reply from the TPS people saying Virgo were being made to investigate their call to me. They have to remove our telephone number from their system. Is there anybody in the UK who doesn't get nuisance calls? The latest one here is a kitchen scrappage call which I can see people responding to because we all love a new kitchen.

Well dear Stephen phoned on behalf of microsoft office this morning although his accent betrayed him as having a far more exotic name. I am afraid I was rather rude to him.
Some idiot from 'Microsoft' rang me a couple of months ago. I decided to play along with him and just to improve his experience I followed all his instructions (because according to him my computer had developed a fault that he could fix.) After 15 minutes of faffing about I asked why he had phoned me and he said it was to correct the fault on the computer. I said I didn't actually need his help and he asked why. I told him that I was the head of an I.T. department. I can't understand why he immediately put the phone down. Fortunately I wasn't hit by an ensuing thunderbolt for telling a porkie.
And just to reassure you all that I'm not as daft as I sound - the whole time that I was apparently following his instructions, my laptop was on the other side of the room in its case ( and turned off.)
Had a call from an unrecognised number (London code) this morning. The gentleman claimed to be from PayPal. I politely explained no one was in & he put the phone down on me. He was a persistent artist and rang back 20 minutes ago taking a much more forceful tone.
I want to talk to either Mr or Mrs Jones please So would I. I'm home alone ... Do you know when they will be back? No. I'm aallll alone. They left me a sandwich & a bottle of Tango
There's a coincidence, I just had a call but missed it. When I checked to see who it was, it was a local number I didn't regognise. Turns out it was a well known scamster who rings up asking about your shopping habits.
I noticed in the case of my call, people from all over had replied, so I think they somehow use a local dialling code even though it's the same nuisance caller.

Sounds like the one I got that I reported to the TPS the other week as I had a phone number, a local one. The scammer had mentioned the name of the company so it was easy to complete the form. Love the idea of being home alone - will try that one next Liv,
