The average adult will spend a total of 46 hours and 30 minutes watching TV over the festive period - or five hours and 10 minutes a day from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day. So says a recent survey.
I most certainly won't. Mr Tink gets driven mad by my inability to sit long to watch a film. I could read a book or listen to the radio or a combination of both for that long but not watching TV

No, I will be joining you Tinks. I very rarely watch a film on TV. I watched that Marigold one a couple of weeks ago because Mr Maisie was in India at the time and it gave me local colour. I will probably have to record the ones I am looking forward to like Mapp & Lucia and Agatha Raisin as Mr Maisie won't be interested. We will probably go and watch something at the cinema en famille sneaking in water bottles and sweets in coat pockets.
Now I enjoy a good film. I'm keeping my eyes peeled at the mo because the run-up to Christmas often has some cracking films. Downton Abbey is going to be on, but other than that I've got nothing earmarked.
I do actually like films but its the two to three hours that gets to me. 90 minutes ... yep I can do that but any longer and no matter how good I think the film is I'm looking at my watch lol.
I don't sit tight all the way through them. If it's really tense I go in the kitchen to make a and watch from there. Distance and all that. I nip outside during adverts too.
5 hours and 10 minutes a day? So I'll be watching way less than usual then? Actually, that probably makes sense - all the lovely programmes I normally watch will be replaced by Christmas editions of programmes I can't stand and Celebrity who knows what. Most of the movies will be of the cringe-making variety too - apart from a few obvious classics, of course! Oh well, Netflix is my friend, maybe.
Although I watch TV a lot, I am also often on my laptop at the same time. Even with something I really want to watch I can't make it through the whole thing without a quick google or something.
And as for Dr Who, I still watch from behind the sofa pretty much every week. Wouldn't miss it for the world though!
I always record films that I want to watch and then, if there are adverts in the middle I can scroll through them, and if I want a coffee I can put it on pause. Ditto if the phone goes which it invariably does.
I'll be recording quite a few programmes over Christmas because when the family comes on Christmas Day I won't be watching any TV (until they go home.)
