if you put a tooth in a glass of cola, it'll completely dissolve
That's actually a bit of a myth. Sticking your tooth in a glass of cola won't do it much good but it won't dissolve. It would be worse to put it in unsweetened orange juice! The myth was started by some doctor in the US trying to scare people out of drinking sift drinks in the 60s I think.
We had a patient who had perfect teeth until he started driving. He then only drank cola, and ended up with fillings in every single tooth he had, including the front surfaces of his teeth! We saw loads of kids who had white spots on their teeth, caused by drinking fizzy drinks, they were advised to stop before the white spots became decay. Don't get me started on the tiny tots who'd come in with rotten teeth because their stupid mothers let them eat copious amounts of boiled and chewy sweets.
26's girlfriend is a dentist and she says the same as you Cog. I never bought fizzy drinks when the boys were young but now of course they are men so now they buy their own.
I notice that 26 hardly drinks fizzy drinks now since they met. 25 still has the odd can of Diet Coke but I don't buy it.
