Yes Berry McPaper-cuts, we had a weekend there when 29 was "doing" the Vikings in Primary School. The Jorvik Viking Centre was temporarily closed when we rolled up due to a problem with their carriages . I had to have a very, VERY serious word with the supervisor. I explained we were Welsh and he let us in. Half way through our amble the carriages were up & running again so we hopped on. Mind, we had to take Himself to the Steam Train Museum. We've got a photo somewhere of him wearing a train driver's cap. He also bought himself a guitar while we were there. Poor dab was on crutches as he had recently had an op to repair a snapped (yes, he snapped it) Achilles tendon. We thought if we shoved him in the guitar shop to strum a strum we could zip around shopping. It sort of backfired, but there you go, 'the best laid plans' & all that. (As it happens - 'The Best Laid Plans' Vikings: Season 6, Episode 10 -
Lidl have Crabbie's green ginger wine for £4.99 a bottle.
My grandfather had a bottle every Christmas and put a splash in his scotch. I used to drink cider and green ginger at uni. Tasted wonderful on the way down, not so good on the way back up.
My auntie lived in York so I have been quite a few times. It used to be called the Castle Museum when I was about 5 - I loved it. Mr EB and I used to visit when we lived in Lincoln. Secondborn lived in York for 6 years or so and never went - stupid boy!
