I don't know if any of you watch Rocks & Co , but you will recall Don Kogen ex GemsTV. He now hunts down and sources a lot of gemstones for R&Co.
In the past couple of years he has passed on some of his finest gem stones from his personal collection to a new and upcoming Canadian designer Kat Florence. He even took her on one of his expeditions.....she hated it! Lol
This weekend she and Don have been showcasing some superb Brazilian Paraiba Tourmalines all set in 18 k gold and surrounded by masses of D flawless diamonds. It's a deal set up between the two of them that she has to showcase them in the UK first before she takes them off to London and New York etc to sell at a much higher price.
She's back on screen tomorrow showing her latest diamond collection in collaboration with Sarah Jessica Parker. Atm two presenters are still showing some superb PT's, way out of our price ranges but nice to look at.
Those are large for Brazilian PT - I dread to think what the prices were!
I prefer the smaller band rings with channel set stones that some woman whose name escapes me used to do - did a lot of Rainbow Sapphire too. The colour of her small PTs was very intense and the prices not unreasonable at the time. Wish I had bought some back then!
What sort of prices were they going for @sacha , not that I'm buying
It depended on the size of the Paraiba as well as the carat weight of tiny diamonds and the gold weight. I only saw the latter part of the show when Kat was on , but she was a bit shocked to see some smaller pieces go for around the £3k mark. Some large stones went for up to ten grand, perhaps.
I've no idea if stuff actually sells or not, as although the presenters say items 'have gone' , I'm not sure I entirely believe them. She said she takes a year in producing a piece, having just a small team somewhere in Europe, but the focus is on top quality and she gets the best gemstones from DK's personal stash. He was also in the studio and has often co-presented when 'his babies' are being sold/ showcased.

Yes EarlyBird,I like those as well, in fact GemsTV did have a bought in collection some years back which proved very popular, mostly set in 14k gold. Is the name you're thinking of Judy Mayfield, who does a range of rainbow sapphire jewellery?
Yes, @sacha, that's the one!! It was her shows that gave me a desperate desire for rainbow sapphires. I would have loved a PT ring but it wasn't to be and now never will! I did get my rainbow sapphire in my beautiful bracelet so I'm happy with that.
Just in case you didn't see it at the time or have forgotten:
That's a beautiful bracelet EarlyBird, I can see why you love it. Some gorgeous colours in there, loving those pinks in the middle.
Just as an aside, TJC have coloured Sapphire jewellery as their theme for today and to keep the price down they seem to have a lot of pieces set in silver or gold plated silver.
They have some quite nice pieces but only a few multi options. There is a bead necklace with sapphire and emerald that I quite like and a couple of rings with a rainbow of sapphires but in yellow gold (plated) and I would prefer silver. Just as well as I couldn't buy them anyway!!
I guess the reason for the prices is the word Brazilian. He must have had the stones quite a while if we are to believe the mines are depleted. The Mozambique paraiba wasn't quite the same quality of colour in my mind.
