4 days ago I decided to try and reduce my intake of caffeine
Im not really a coffee drinker but have always loved strong (and I'm talking builders strong) tea. Im not sure why but although Ive always managed to drink about 2 litres of water a day just recently the tea consumption has taken over, to about 8 cups a day which is a stupid amount.
I cut it down to one cup initially but the withdrawal symptoms were unbelievable. dull headaches, like a hangover, general lethargy and perhaps worst of all dull muscle pain. Day 2 I had 2 cups and the symptoms eased a bit.
Its day 4 today and Im going to try just 1 cup again.
I dont like fruit or herbal tea but am very happy drinking water, the plus side is the difference in my skin is amazing. Think I will stick with this now
Try and stick with it. I had a serious caffeine habit years ago but mine was diet coke. Lord but I felt dreadful for a few days. I was never able to cut down slowly though. If I just had the odd caffeinated drink here and there to ease the symptoms, as I had tried several times before, the symptoms when I cut it out altogether were as bad as they ever were.
But I'm now caffeine free most of the time and I can have the odd caffeinated drink without any ill effects.
Mr Tink is very sensitive to caffeine and has struggled with headaches all his life. Its only in the last couple of years that I have finally got through his thick skull that most of them are caffeine related. He still gets a few if he hits the caffeine at work and the eases back but unlike me he has never been totally caffeine free. Hard as it is I think you need to boot it out of your system completely and then you cope better with the odd caffeine shot here and there.
I have Nellie and yes there is little difference in taste but even decaf tea has a small percentage of caffeine in it.
The idea to cut it out first came about so that I would cut back on the cups as they were taking over the water. will have to see how I get on tomorrow when Im back at work, may need to have a cup in the afternoon if I start to fall asleep
Its a funny feeling as you don't just feel tired you literally have to shut your eyes as they won't stay open
I'm rather partial to the instant unsweetened, decaff cappucinos but limit myself to two per day. I drink water the rest of the time - about 2 litres a day - and that probably accounts for me not looking a day over 70..............
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.
It is no secret that I love coffee. Love, love it. However, too much caffeine is not good for you, I do know that. I was given a super-dooper coffee machine for Christmas by my boss which takes beans and I love it. I only drink that coffee in the morning though as I would be completely hyper otherwise! The trouble is, when I get to work, they have another super-dooper machine which tempts me!
Good luck giving up Y. As I am still off the fags and vaping away, giving up coffee would be too painful for me.
Well done with the smoking, itchy. And as a non-smoker since December 2008, keep it up because it's well worth it.
The maximum number of coffees I'll have in a day is 3, although most days it's only 2 so I don't know what effect the caffeine is having on me. I don't really drink tea although I might have a cup of herbal tea about twice a year. I do drink loads of water though which hopefully counteracts any 'issues.'
You are all very good. 'Denial' is not in my vocabulary though
How's the vaping going Liv? I must admit I like mine and have not missed cigarettes at all and I was a heavy duty smoker. At least 20, sometimes 30 a day. I am shocked at how well I have coped.
27 gave up a few months ago as his dentist girlfriend was giving him grief, 25 has never smoked and OH gave up 18 months ago. So now the house is lovely and smoke free. When 25's girlfriend comes over she has to go outside!
