In the words of Sgt. Esterhaus from Hill Street Blues, be careful out there, it's a blooming madhouse!!!
We've just been out for the last of the bits and pieces we needed and you'd think the end of the world was nigh. Total chaos and mayhem, all for an extra day. It's not as tho the shops aren't open on Boxing Day.
Mr Cog nearly ran some poor unsuspecting woman over with the trolley because he wasn't paying attention
Our stock of cellotape is running dangerously low so I had to go out first thing to get some more. The Rugrats are arriving tonight & everything is last minute with them, including wrapping presents. I decided to walk to the PO to get some more & I'm glad I did. It was chaos.
I've just remembered - fresh cream. I forgot to get it

I was at the local shops for 9 this morning to avoid crowds. Aldi was busy then but when my friend called for me later when we went swimming she said the village centre was really busy and the lights were taking two or three gos to get through. Mr Maisie has just gone to collect our turkey from his workplace.
Well I've just done a dash to Argos for one of the storage ottoman things and couldn't believe how quick and easy it was. Straight through the traffic. Had it reserved so no fiddling about there. Came through for collection sharpish and whizzed back to the office. Even got the same front of office parking space. Job done!!
I have a trip to M&S for a collection tomorrow, but that's it for the high street so it'll be a dash and grab. And then the final bits and the goose to collect at 8am on Christmas Eve. It'll be fine.
I actually took a list with me, because I only needed a few specific things, although 2 bottles of a Martini fell in to the trolley in Lidl, well, I HAD to because we had a £5 voucher off, and I needed them to get me up to £40, so in reality, one and a quarter bottles were actually FREE :P
Luckily I've no need to go to the shops, barring my local supermarket for some milk for Christmas Day for the ex' , as I'm sorted here. I was up North at the weekend and we went to places where the crowds weren't (it took some time to find those as there were crowds everywhere.) Last week, when I popped into Tesco it was packed, with people's trolleys piled high. I cannot understand why people stock up as though there's going to be a siege for a year, especially when the shops are open on Boxing Day in the main. One woman had enough loaves of bread in her trolley to feed a city. It's ridiculous, in my opinion.
I used to have to stock up a few years ago. We always had my in-laws here and my sisters used to pop in with their families, but we were never sure when. Then there was my brother-in-law who always descended on us around the 27th with his partner and two daughters. He always said it would be a flying visit but rarely left until we ran out of food.
Sainsbury's website shut down for half an hour, while Asda customers found delivery slots they had booked weeks ago were scrapped - although its website stayed live. Waitrose customers complain about deliveries that have failed to arrive
We popped to Homebase this afternoon to get an extra roll of wallpaper. Then I suggested popping into Morrisons to get a newspaper. Flip......it was busy.
Then his nibs thought of some things he needed....... 8-|
