We often get asked if the Princess is a labradoodle, someone even asked if she was an Irish Wolfhound, but yesterday while we were out, someone asked if she was a Bedlington.
I thought it was a lamb too! Unusual looking dog if you ask me.
At the house where I work, they have a large German Shepherd dog. They got her a few years ago primarily as a guard dog after they were burgled. She is very dangerous - the danger being that she would lick any intruder to death.
When the boys were young they plagued us begging for a dog, especially 27. I knew that after the novelty wore off it would be us looking after it and we always said no. We compromised by getting two kittens. And yes, they ended up being our cats not theirs.
Be careful buying a 'designer' cross i.e. an overpriced mutt, unlike good pedigree breeders, they're not usually health tested, and you don't necessarily get the best of both breeds, you can easily get a whole load of trouble. Friends of ours has a 'Chorkie', if they hadn't taken out insurance, they'd be bankrupt by now it's got so many health problems. The other con is anything crossed with a lab or poodle is hypo allergenic - there's no such thing where dogs are concerned.
The other issue can be their coats @lewis, poodles can need clipping every 6 weeks to keep their coats short, so a mixed breed can have a 'challenging' coat, and grooming is expensive!
The dog's coat is my main concern because as I mentioned, Mrs M used to be highly allergic to dogs. We actually bought a spaniel many years ago, but after two days I had to give it to my Dad as Mrs M was reacting badly. More recently (since her illness, immune system knackered), she seems to cope fine but I still have serious doubts in the long term.
