I think the BBC often have poor quality sound/diction. Ripper Street in the early episodes was shockingly bad and I think the sound quality was part of the reason the series didn't get renewed. It went to Amazon TV who sorted the problem and it's been quite successful.

'Jamaica Inn' had the same problem
The BBC has finally diagnosed what sources say was a “perfect storm” responsible for the sound problems on the BBC1 drama Jamaica Inn – and has vowed that lessons have been learned, RadioTimes.com can reveal.
Watched the Agatha Christie tonight and thought it was a bit meh.
We watched the Agatha tonight. If the Agatha Christie had been a dance on SCD Len would have said stop faffing about and get on with it! I was bored it was so pedestrian. I prefer her stories where there is a detective , doesn't have to be Poirot or Marple, I am happy with Ariadne Oliver or Parker Pyne etc.

Was that the one on Boxing Day? I tried watching and gave up soon enough, it all seemed a bit misty and murky. I watched all the Poirot repeats on ITV 3 and also liked Ariadne Oliver, a bit of a character. They've stopped showing them now.

It was dragged out over two nights, Sacha - I thought the filming was murky but Mr Nell informed me it was a way of conveying the backstory.
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.
