I will admit to spritzing the face, a habit I blame Miss Ali for, at certain times of the year and I always use a tanning moisturiser on my 'well toned pins' before flashing them in either a swimsuit on holiday or wearing a dress/ skirt with no tights in summer. I like the Decleor gradual glow one but the cheapies from Superdrug are as good. The rest of moi is 'tanned' via Aldi's suntan lotion if exposed to the elements.
I've never really done the fake tan thing. Sometimes I use a wash off one on my legs earlier in the season but come summer my pins are normally quite brown. Even when I use the wash off ones it doesn't look right on me. My skin doesn't go that colour. They're always golden brown bordering on orange. My skin is olive bordering on green lol.
I can't do pale and interesting either though. I'm dark skinned before I start and I am an outdoor girl. I'd need to be covered head to toe all year not to tan.
My skin doesn't colour well either @tinkerbelle. I always look jaundiced. I'm not a fan at all, but I'm not keen on bottle milk legs either. M&S used to do a leg makeup years ago that I got on well with. I'll have to investigate & see if it's still around.
My legs are not a nice colour and are quite badly scarred so I use Coverderm perfect legs liquid if I am going out bare-legged.In any case, I don't tan easily and tend to go red.I don't sunbathe, but over the years here, I have developed a very slight year-round tan just by being out and about. Fake tan looks weird on me.
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.

I used to use the spritz one that Le Q originally had to give my white face a quick warm up ( Eco Tan) but they stopped selling it so I tried a bottle of the James Read Gradual Tan they flog nowadays - it isn't as natural in my opinion . Got my last EcoTan from Bid just before the crash, but as it lasts so long it's gone a bit of a funny colour so I have been reluctant to spray it - that's something else I don't like with the James Read , you can't see what you are spraying. On a pale like me when I am make up less the spritz stops me looking like a zombie.
I am pale and I don't like it but I am not the best at applying fake tan.
I use Sally Hansen spray for legs. It's so easy to spray some on a tanning mitt and the colour is natural on my VERY white legs. If we are going somewhere I will start using Dove Summer Glow moisturiser a couple of days beforehand on my arms and dec. It's easy to use and gives a bit of colour.
I have tried using tanning creams but it's not something I find easy to do. Face and arms tan naturally over time in the garden using a high factor lotion, but I would use an enhancer for a special occasion maybe. Not really that bothered as I am never out of trousers.
I'll probably stay pale. I never sunbathe and wear sun factor all year round so faux tanning isn't something I think about. In the summer, I either wear trousers or maxi skirts/dresses so the general public never get the chance to be dazzled by my whiteness.
There's a free 50ml St Tropez tanning lotion in this months Marie Claire magazine. I've got a works function on Saturday (well, a pi$$ up if I'm being honest), so I've been using it every other day since last Wednesday. So far, so good considering I never change colour in normal sunlight. Looks quite natural I think and it doesn't seem to be rubbing off on clothing or towels which is definitely a bonus. I've been impressed enough to buy another copy of the magazine anyway.
