The thing that really upsets me is this carnage will only steel our resolve against these bastar*s. It won't stop Manchester folk carrying on - children and families will suffer directly from this barbarism, but the city's life won't stop.A soft target. Gives the sh***s publicity which I presume is all they want.
I stayed up & watched this unfold last night. There were some incredible acts of kindness. Taxi drivers & residents were taking people away from the centre for free, a hotel took in youngsters as did nearby pubs and a snooker hall also said they were taking in people. A man was giving out bottles of water, another man was handing out concert venue T shirts. Others offered rooms in their own homes, with the hashtag #RoomforManchester trending on social media, and urged people to give blood.
I am just back from Athens and reading about this. So many of the people helping were Muslim, I hope it doesn't rebound on the good and decent ones. This just plays into the terrorist's hands. Maybe the fact that it was aimed at children will encourage those who know or suspect something to come forward.
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.
