I'm planning to plant up the patio pots in the next couple of days so I needed to get compost and bedding plants. I like B&Q's compost so decided to go there first and then onto the nursery so the compost was at the bottom.
I didn't get to the nursery because B&Q had trolleys full of discount bedding plants if anyone is interested they had
9 x petunias for 50p
6 x fuschia's £1
6 x geraniums £1
6 x trailing petunia's £1
6 x begonias 50p
Nothing wrong with them I'm guessing they're either this or last weeks plants and with it being a bank holiday they've probably got more coming in the next couple of days. With the exception of the foilage plants I got enough to fill 12 large pots and 8 hanging baskets including the compost for £23, what a bargain!

I've just got back from the nursery I bought 5 small plug foliage plants, 5 individually potted million bells and 2 packs of 10 small Bizzy Lizzies and they were £14.50 which is more than I spent on the 18 trays of plants at B&Q this morning LOL

I do love lobelia Liv but if the bloody stuff dries out then there's no real hope of getting it back. My front garden is south facing and the basket there just can't cope with the heat so I avoid lobelia.
Petunias and fuchsias are my favourites for hanging baskets.
lol Liv. You can't tell em can ya? I'm going away in June too but I have a watering system so mine will be fine. Not that I've actually planted them up yet.
Mr Nell was supposed to be going to B&Q today - it being Old Gits Day - to replenish our stock of weedkiller (he is doing battle with marestail currently ) but he fell asleep in the sun..............
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.
I'm having a battle with Mares Tail too Nellie, nothing really works on it. Strangely I was reading up on it earlier on the week, as its sort of waxy the suggestion was to bruise by trampling on it so it can absorb the weedkiller, easier said than done when its in the flowerbeds

Oh dear DD - at least ours is in a bed that has been cleared of shrubs etc. I'll pass on that tip about trampling but we have a friend with an allotment who says he has access to Agent Orange or somesuch.........

One of the other tips was to remove the heads when they're in the brown cone stage before the spores spread and to cut the spears off about an inch below the surface a bit like asparagas, apparantly it weakens it
