However, I seem to recall Lil had an issue with them too.
Twice OH has had letters from JDW demanding payment goods he had never even ordered - He has such a common name - both times numerous phone calls ensued and he demanded, on both occasions, a letter stating he was not the person concerned.
Extremely annoying ..
I used to be "Mrs Brown" but I always insisted it was not 'common', merely 'popular', much nicer, I think. As an alarming footnote, I was a patient in a maternity unit in Harrogate.Unbeknown to me, ones nether regions there were referred to euphemistically as 'Mrs Brown'. I was bedbound so was given a bowl of water and left to sponge myself down. A bossy nurse entered and we had this surreal conversation... " Have you washed Mrs Brown?" Me ~ yes thankyou. Her~So is Mrs Brown feeling tender? Me~ Only my nether regions, as expected. why are you referring to me in the third person? Her ~ No idea what you are talking about Me `(to her retreating back) the feeling is mutual. It wasn't until I was moved to a general ward that I realised....
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.
I e mailed them yesterday expressing my displeasure and have just had a reply where they state that they kept that number to ensure continuity for customers
I replied to tell them that in reality they were operating a money spinning scam and called them a bunch of shysters
If I have to speak to someone who uses one of the premium 0870 or 0845 etc numbers I look for an alternative on 'Say no to 0870' and I've always managed to find one
