I like the Running Stitch Popover Shirt (189376) & the Jersey Tunic with Side Slits (189373), but the square tent styles that Melissa tends to showcase would swamp me.
It is good that QVC caters for all sizes and preferences and I didn’t mean to cause any offence to those of you who like Marla’s styles …… so my apologies,
It’s just as well that we all like different kinds and styles of clothes or we’d all be walking around like clones with no personal identity or style,
I recall watching a segment when the range was introduced to the UK by Marla herself. She said people claimed her range was for tall women, but that was not true. I disagree Marla. Sorry, but most of what I've seen is for taller women. I mentioned item 189373, the length is 30.5" I won't say how far above my knee that is, but it's not where it is sitting on the model
Leaves me out too, Frazz. I am just 5 feet tall with very narrow shoulders and a high waist. I can so easily look like the proverbial sack of sugar/spuds,tied in the middle. On the QVC forum a lot of people were unkind about my love of Kim&Co but so many of her clothes really suit me. I don’t care for the more garish patterns and haven’t worn a jump suit since the 70s but her mantra always was “falls away from the body” and her clothes just do that in a flattering way,.. and, as an added bonus, they don’t click if a cat claws them. I could be changing a keg one minute, and called to a management meeting, the next ,and I always looked smart and, more to the point, cool and comfortable. I have a few Nina Leonard things too which are real favourites.
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.
I agree with everything you have written cassandra & could be your shorter (yes, shorter) twin. I've quite a few things from Kim & Co but like you I avoid the patterns. Kim is 5'4" I believe and it shows in her styling. I wore a Nina Leonard dress out on Father's Day. It's a version of Marla's balloon dress and fits just fine, falling below my knees. I don't mind the fabrics in these ranges either. I feel the cold more than the heat.
Apart from some things so long they make me look shorter, the biggest problem for me is sleeves. Usually down to my fingers. I mainly buy 3/4 sleeves now as I'm fed up shortening them, specially if they have a cuff. If only I was 6 inches taller had freakishly long arms .....
I’ve also got a lot of Nina Leonard clothes ….. tops, trousers, cardigans, boleros, maxi dresses and a skirt. I never opted for the cold shoulder look or the shark bite hems, but NL clothes wash brilliantly and stay colour fast and, more importantly, you don’t need to iron them.
I’ll also own up to the fact that I also own quite a lot of clothes from Ideal World. They also wash well and don’t crease and the bonus is that they’re a lot cheaper than QVC’s offerings and P&P is often capped or free.
Ideal World also do trousers that look very similar to the Marla Wynne TSV ones, without the creases 😉, and they’re two pairs for £20. They’re called bengalines.
