The hairdryer here is like the extension tube on a vacuum cleaner, but not unfortunately a Dyson vac. You have to lift the tube above a certain level for the warm air to come out and the bit you hold gets red hot, burning your fingers and the thing does not dry your barnet. I don’t usually take hairdryers on holiday nowadays but if we came back here I would look for a cheap travel one as after my beautiful, wonderful, marvelous Dyson this is awful.
I know what you mean about hotel hair dryers FP, the one's you're discribing are OK for straight forward drying but are useless for styling. Luckily the one in my hotel was a more conventional one with a nozzle but even then it was problematic, the lowest setting was too cool and didn't dry and the medium was far too hot drying it too quickly. I used to take my own away but twice they've either been broken in transit or died immediately after returning home, I think they're affected by condensation caused by the cold air in the hold so for that reason plus the weight of it I don't take it anymore
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong

Good points Diamond Diva. I haven’t come across ones like this for many years. You are right it is impossible to style with them. Fortunately I bought my Aldi Carmen travel tongs which are very small in length so I can tweak once it is dry. I can manage without a decent dryer.
It's a Bank Holiday weekend here and we are going down to Cork on Friday until Sunday. Our darling 28 is at Uni there and we have been promising him that we would go down there. I have never been to Cork - OH has been there a few times but then he has been everywhere in Ireland with work!
