I've been gone for hours! I was on my way to the Co-op for bread & thought I'd go to Marks & Spensive.
50% off smellies! I spoke to a lovely assistant who showed me what she was buying her husband -who is very difficult to buy for- & I ended up buying a washbag and some of Dermot O'Leary's selection of shaving and skincare essentials for 32's boyfriend. The collection, called '24.hr Grooming for Men' has taken the presenter over a year to develop you know! Not a flash in the pan. I bought a box of travel size samples. We thought that would be best seeing as I don't know him that well. Then we went across the aisle. La Maison De Senteurs (that's French that is) handcare duo - half price! We thought that was a good bargain. That was a top-up Christmas present for my niece.
Then I went over to the proper beauty section and was looking at 'Refinery Face Wash' for men. 26 complains that 27 uses her Liz Earle -and she doesn't like it! I got chatting to another lovely assistant and we both agreed that the smell was gorgeous. She said it had good reviews & she was going to buy it for her son (her son is in Uni & she doesn't half miss him). Anyway, I bought the face wash for 27's birthday. We then had a sniff at Shay & Blue perfumes & I had to use her arm as well as my own as I was running out of space. We agreed that some were gorgeous & some were a bit meh. I liked Blood Oranges & she favoured Dandelion Fig . I said it had been a QVC TSV but I passed it up.
Upstairs I bought another set of 4 wine globlets. The young man stacking the shelves and I agreed that they were a lovely shape, sturdy & comfortable to hold. He said he was banned from washing glasses in his house because he kept cracking them against the tap. I told him it was a man thing, Himself is banned too.
I remembered my vest! The assistant and I extolled the virtues of thermal underwear. Neither of us could fathom how youngsters went out for a night on the tiles half dressed. I was telling her about my bra woes & she whisked me in the changing rooms and brought tons of them for me to try on. We both agreed that the non wired Sumptuously Soft T-Shirt bra was an excellent fit, the best of the bunch & the first one I tried on. She wears them all the time while I had never bought one that was not wired.
When I got home Himself said, "Where's the bread?"
A neighbour who moved in in the summer has had her Xmas lights on for a week and a "Stop here, Santa" sign stuck in her front garden. Apologies to anyone who puts their decorations etc really early, but I think it's ridiculous. Mid December is early enough in my opinion.
I agree with you Toril. It's way too early for all that. I usually have a slight altercation with 27 who would like to put the decorations up early. I told him when he gets his own house he can do what he wants!
I have just remembered I have 2 Lidl advent calendars thrown in the wardrobe. I better get them out for tomorrow. I'm not really excited as the chocolate is tichy.
I have a very special advent calendar to start tomorrow.
A hand crafted, personalised "Not the Jo Malone" advent calendar with 25 doors - please take note, Fortnum and Mason! There may once have been 25 chocolates too.
