The reason I've been shopping at Tesco so much recently is due to the local town centre, for the last 5-6 years, being totally rebuilt and a no-go area. It's taken Sainburys more than three years to get the new store up and running, and which I have a distinct dislike of. It does have 1 hour free parking, which is handy for shopping elsewhere.
I shall start using the new Aldi in the New Year and go back to using Tesco monthly just to get the heavy stuff delivered, and when I need petrol. I can always go to Sainsburys elsewhere the odd time I need to.
If we had a car our shopping would always be done at Tesco. As it is, Mr EB will shop there if he doesn't need too much, but Lidl for heavier loads because it is much less far to carry it all! Sainsbury's is further than Tesco, and too damned expensive most of the time, and we have a very small Co-op which sells almost nothing so it limits us somewhat! We have 3 Tesco stores, one of which I don't like, but otherwise I have no problem with them and even if we had all options I would probably still go there. Turkey and crown both came from there and were lovely. Maybe we are just lucky?*
I used to shop in Tesco years ago but it was a long drive there and back and took too long. Now we have a Sainsburys and even closer a Morrisons which has ongoing good offers and a heap of M&S food stores. We popped in to Waitrose yesterday but were disappointed with the sight of empty shelves and close 'use by date' food. Don't think they'd had a post Xmas delivery!
Our big Tesco is literally across the roundabout from Lidl so we sometimes do both, main shop in Lidl & all the bits they don't stock in Tesco. Pets@Home are on the same patch. Win win.
