I was in a carvery last week, the man on the next table had obviously upgraded to the larger serving but I could not believe how much food he had on his plate it was obscene, filled from edge to edge and piled up at least six inches high, it would have fed the average person for a week and most of it seemed to be potatoes I couldn't see any green veg!
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
Was it topped with a Yorkshire Pudding the size of a side-plate Diamond Diva ? That's what I saw. They put his plate on a tray because the gravy was pouring off.
A plate that's piled high with food puts me off eating any of it. You're full before you start because they say you eat with your eyes first (or something like that.)
Trouble with carverys is the plates are too small, I think it's an attempt by the restaurant to limit what people put on their plates but it doesn't work. What annoys me is folk who do pile it high but then leave half of it.

I would like to be able to order smaller portions when eating out in some places as the amount they dole out is overfacing. Fortunately Mr FP is eager to take my leftovers onto his own plate. There are a couple of places I have been recently where they do a mini pudding and coffee of your choice at the desert stage. It’s a good idea.
When I go out to lunch with my old school friend we often opt for two side -sweet potato chips & salad.
I very often have two starters, a prawn cocktail + 1. Even then you have to be careful what you order, some of the starters equal a small meal! As for ready meals, I've got use to having a bulk cook up day of various meals and freezing them. They last me at least a month or two, interspersed with chops, chicken etc. I like a stir fry as well, that's quick and easy.
Frazz, Frazz! - I took delivery of a new 6.5 litre slow cooker today to replace my original one that had developed hot spots and burnt things. It is HUMUNGOUS...... I'll be able to cook enough meals for a year, let alone a month or two
