The best thing I've seen on TV the last few days was Revolting Rhymes on BBC1 this afternoon. A Roald Dahl clever mash up of well known fairy stories, it was brilliant.

I am not a great lover of people who take someone else’s work, change the story and then claim they have brought it up to date to make it relevant where in reality they have used the idea and written a different story to cash in on the name of the author. I would be happy enough if the person who rewrote the story did that and had her own name as author. This making it relevant for today will be true for me when someone has taken the bible and rewritten the events eg Adam being made from Eve’s ribs for the feminists.
Mark Gatiss, who played Mycroft and had a hand in the writing I think, has written a few detective novels of his own. The lead character is called Lucifer Box, who spans various eras and is cross between Adam Adamant and Holmes but is fabulously camp. They are a very good read.
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.

I dont think that deeply into things, just enjoy them for what they are if they are well acted

If I had never read / listened many times to the book I might have enjoyed watching but this was not Agatha Christie ‘s ABC Murders. If you are familiar wiith why her murderer murdered in her story this production must necessarily be an entirely different story.
Ive read the story and watched different versions and yes it is totally different but as I said that doesn't matter to me really, if its done well I dont think about the origin

We won’t be able to compromise on this Yorko because I cannot move from the making money out an established author by rewriting their story and using their name to get a large Christmas audience as against being able to write your own story and gaining your own audience.
As nellie said Berry McPaper-cuts, we dont need to agree, its not life or death but just a TV programme that I enjoyed. If you don't then thats fine
I am assuming that the project would have been OK'd by her estate (perhaps not as Im not sure about copyright). If thats the case then they are ones cashing in IMO
