When Cadbury announced it had teamed up with Heinz to launch a Creme Egg version of the creamy condiment in time for Easter, many thought it was an April Fool's joke. But the concoction really exists, and is described as a 'scrumptious, moreish spread' that's perfect with crumpets.
Please tell me they are lying & this IS an April Fool joke.
It can't be an April Fool joke as it was published today, and thus they would be the fools. It is of course a lie because it's the Daily Mail, and neither creme egg nor mayonnaise are perfect for a crumpet.
Cadbury/Heinz = Kraft. Sounds like the sort of combination the Americans would come up with. I certainly wouldn't want to be buying a whole jar to sample it!
Sainsbury’s announced earlier this month that it would be selling a Cheesalicious Easter Egg for £5 from 10 April. Now Asda is getting involved, too, and it’s pipping Sainsbury’s to the post in terms of price (the exact same egg is £1 cheaper) and stock time: 29 March, FYI.
The 100% cheddar cheese egg is made from 120g of pure Lancashire-farmed cheddar cheese, with a soft, creamy texture “perfect for spreading”. It comes boxed with mini oatcakes and a sticky, sweet chutney.
For those who don’t want to wait, the same egg is already being stocked on eBay for three times the price.
