A friend dragged me along to this exercise class recently, and I have to admit I am feeling the benefits.
It's nice and gentle, no floor work, and apart from a few sidesteps it all takes place standing on the spot. It's about strengthening muscles to improve your balance and I have noticed I am walking better already. Best of all, you know you have done a workout, but are not puffed out or hot and sweaty afterwards. I shall carry on going for a while, but being a simple routine, it could easily be done at home, which will be great in the winter.
I bought the revitative machine that Ian Botham advertises and that livens my legs up. The programme is half an hour in length, but you don't do anything other than sit down with your feet on it while it blasts electrical impulses up your legs. I bought it when the sciatica hit me as I wasn't able to walk without pain, but that's passed now but I still love using the machine.
However, if there was anywhere near me that ran paracise exercises I'd slot that in as well, so I can keep up with Him Ooop North. As he's 6ft 3, I have to do three steps to his one to keep up with him. But I'm keen to do anything that keeps me "young" and nimble in my dotage. Mind you, something must be working because the kitchen guy thought I was 51 which isn't bad considering I was far older than that on Monday.
