It is very tense here. I bought new curtains for the big window in the lounge ... And I want them to drape from the ceiling. This meant the baton and the pole had to be moved up a few inches and Himself has made his feelings clear. I splained that he got it all wrong the first time he put the pole up so he was effectively correcting his previous errors and seeing as it is the only window in the whole house that has curtains it was no big deal. He's gone silent so I think he understands now.
No lily I'm waiting for Jones to fill the cracks before I can start painting. He reckons no one can fill cracks as well as he can. I've got the paint though! It's sitting next to the Christmas chocolates under the stairs.
Spring is in the air -well it is in our garden with daff shoots popping up and primroses already in bloom. Time for decorating methinks. Perhaps black walls?
Every room here has black accessories in it and my oven, inset hob and all the gadgets on the work surfaces in the kitchen are black. The pots in the garden are black, as is all the external wall art. I also wear a lot of black. Black is an easy colour to work with as it goes with everything.
However, there’s no way I’d want walls in a room painted that colour. It would be like living in a coal mine or having a permanent power cut. 😳
Just to show you that I really do like black ….. I redid the grouting on the kitchen and bathroom floor tiles at the weekend, in black. 😉 Against cream tiles it looks pretty smart. 👍
I like black. 'Black is Beautiful' was someone's slogan I seem to remember, but I won't have black or glass mirror surfaces. All that wiping down and dusting!
I think that lounge carries the black walls because it is a large space and the soft furnishings are bright jewel colours that lift it & make it seem opulent. I've got dark blue of two of my lounge walls, a big room with dual windows. It could take four walls painted dark blue but 2 was a compromise with Jones. I agree that a small room would feel a bit like a cave.

And he failed!
Top of baton 2 1/2" from ceiling - correct pole equal distance above window - correct pole & baton extends beyond edge of window - correct Then why does the pole slope down on the right? It was a puzzle and Jones didn't want to know, but I did. I've thought about it a lot. It must be the ceiling slopes or it's the bracket I thought so last night I got a small cotton reel, wrapped it in blu-tack and placed it on top of the bracket so that the pole rested on it. Job done.
