Whats the weather like today

The earlier 10 minute storm was our only excitement weather-wise for months apart from the wind which, while much appreciated in the hot weather, wreaks havoc, as it is dust-laden.
Just looked at the long-range forecast for Newcastle and it will be around 9c with some rain at times...it's always quite bracing there at the best of times...better pack the thermals...

Heating on today for the first time this year. Very cold......

For many years Mr FP collected weather data daily and collated details in his book. When he went away on business trips I was expected to substitute. I could never get the minimum and maximum correct. He stopped collecting daily some time ago but he still has a rain gauge in the garden which he empties once a week or if the rain is really heavy , like last week, daily, and we have indoor and outdoor thermometers. If we had room I am sure he would have wanted a Stevenson Screen if there had been somewhere sensible to put it! His main conclusion was that where we live is very WET DUE TO THE VERY HEAVY RAINFALL . That’s why we had cotton mills Mr FP ! May is usually the best month in Ramsbottom.

Still no rain here and a tad less chilly than yesterday, although the heating tripped on again this morning despite the fact that the thermostat is turned down. 😳

I'm still in a summer skirt, but am now wearing a long sleeved top, albeit in a lightweight material, so it must be getting colder.
