It’s been grey all day here. The leaves are falling and covering the garden 🙄 but I’m getting someone in to clear them this year, assuming he is available, because I’ve decided that I’ve got better things to do with my time.
The bottom of our garden is thick with leaves. Jones will mash them up in the lawn mower. Yesterday the farmer was out in the fields in his tractor cutting back the hedgerow. Himself asked him to trim back our cotoneaster hedge that hangs over the wall into the lane. It seems to have gone berserk this year & backing out of the drive can be a bit dodgey. Five minutes later it was done. The hedge now looks as if it has had a very bad haircut, but I'm not complaining, job done. He's a very nice man.
I was up till 4am controlling the flow (Yes, flow) of water being forced back through the wall where the new boiler condensation pipe went and been inserted directly into my drainpipe via a hole which was cut too big! The old pipe had it's own downpipe directly down into the drain hole. Why would you direct a pipe into another pipe that could become become blocked in torrential rain. I am fuming, not to mention squelching around on a floor with water underneath it!
The boiler has since failed and won't be reset, I have no central heating or hot water. Book an engineer online it says, no appointments until Saturday. Half an hour on the phone to be told the same the thing! - take a deep breath, stay calm grrrr!
I'm already supposed to be registered in the vulnerable category on age. I told them my age in the end and said they could not leave me with heating, hot water and flooding until Saturday.
This is where BG fall down, they make it as difficult as possible to contact them in person knowing most people will give up and accept offered appointments. While the pandemic hasn't helped no doubt, it was just as bad before. Works well if you are just looking for a service.
