The wife came home to tell me she had a good friend she went to school with and graduated college with in Ecuador that got shot and killed in the New Jersey shooting. After almost losing my wife to a shooter this year and then another friend in the Pulse nightclub killing 49 people it’s like these crazies are everywhere! Just another sad day!
Terrible news again, @whoisserafin, especially so close to home twice. (As in family and friends)
Surely it's time to accept that your government's obsession with the right to bear arms is a ludicrous one? I know in many cases it's been people with mental issues committing these atrocities, but the sanest of people can have a tipping point who've already been allowed to purchase a gun, and so it continues. It's frightening.

Sorry no I can’t, I would rather take a bullet myself than remove a single right from law abiding citizens and just concentrate on the people committing crimes. Now if that isn’t clear enough where I stand on the matter we can just concentrate on the victims at hand. Thanks!
I really think that America should think about following us, and other countries, by getting rid of them. Sadly there will always be people who can get hold of a gun, but at least in this country most of us don’t have to worry about getting shot in the supermarket or at school. To be honest, if I lived in the States, I’d be very nervous about going into crowded places.
There will always be fanatics etc., whose life goal is to wreak havoc for whatever reason, but allowing them to have access to guns is courting with disaster, in my opinion.
I’m so sorry that you and your wife have had your lives affected in such a tragic and worrying way, whoisserafin.

I’m sure we can all respect each other’s opinions but we have a long tradition here of allowing threads to meander “off topic” as it usually leads into more discussions as we go along

I didn't post to offend, and my thoughts are with you and your family/friends who must be living in fear. But without the right to bear arms, chances are there would have been no victims in this instance. We have nutters over here too, knife crime is what currently needs addressing, but the U.S. gun situation has been going on far too long now and with far too many dreadful consequences. "Rather taking the bullet yourself" hardly helps the situation, imo.
I think you'll find that most of us on this forum are not in favour of carrying weapons - it's very probably a cultural thing - but in my own case I have lived in Florida and was never persuaded that owning a gun was a sensible thing to do if, for no other reason, than a burglar or attacker could take it from me and use it to maim or kill me!
My husband's former boss, who has lived in Colorado for the past 15 years, carries five guns on him at any one time - what the f**k is that all about?
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.

If he had arthritis he would find that armoury heavy to carry! We have my grandfather's Mauser from the Boer War , it’s decommissioned, but would push any burglar down the stairs.

I know you have personal agenda like we all do.
It’s not fear at all we just go out and enjoy life even more since that tragic day with my wife, what’s the term this generation likes to use, I’m woke that every day is important with your loved ones more than I can ever remember. Mixed with frustration that we are ignoring the real problems in America.
Without the right to bear arms statistics show by our own government the cdc we would have a 100,000 thousand more victims in America of various crimes ranging from rape, murder, beatings, burglary, kidnapping, etc. Look we’re not going to agree so I would rather die today before any law abiding citizen lost any other right on the Bill of Rights and actually have a government that wants to work the heart of the problem on why we have these violent social issues now and didn’t before and America has always had guns. And look statistics show Europe the country tough on gun laws has more mass shootings than America so again it’s a social and morality issue we need to fix.
Taking the bullet for personal rights is what created our country.

And god knows I respect that and would never want anyone to do so. Hell as I said in another topic I keep my gun in the safe more often and since the shooting myself I haven’t been to the range and have been doing far more photography. I think we are just adjusting and then this happens the other day.
