As reported yesterday many people suffered , not just Diana herself, after Bashir’s lies , like the Nanny who was accused of an affair and an abortion. Perhaps the BBC will be taken to the cleaner’s for compensation over lost reputations.
The Mirror states "Bashir’s reputation rightly lies in tatters but his personal ignominy should not be allowed to tarnish the whole corporation, which still strives to deliver impartial journalism."
Chairman of the Commons Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee Julian Knight said there was a need to strengthen editorial policy at the BBC.
BBC journalist Jonathan Dimbleby branded Bashir a 'consummate conman and liar'.
Cliff Richard, who sued the broadcaster over its coverage of a police raid on his home, said those involved deserve 'all that must surely come their way'.
Lord Grade told the Today programme it was not enough for the BBC to 'utter the usual platitudes' about learning lessons, saying there had to be a serious structural change inside the BBC'.
I think it's time that licence fee was scrapped. I read in the comments section of MailOnline that blind people have to pay half the fee. Curious, I checked and it's true.
If you are registered blind (severely sight impaired) then you are entitled to a “blind concession TV Licence” which gives you 50 per cent off the cost of your TV Licence. Unfortunately you are not entitled to this if you are registered as partially sighted (sight impaired).
I think it’s appalling that they’ve scrapped the free licence for the over 75s.
When I eventually get to that age (hopefully) I would have happily continued to pay it, if it hadn’t been scrapped, so that less fortunate pensioners could enjoy not having to pay. My elderly neighbour, who is now 83, has been diagnosed with dementia and has a carer three times a week. Her only pleasure nowadays is watching television and the licence fee is a fair chunk out of her annual state pension. 😞
The BBC has a new logo which looks virtually the same as the previous one. The logo, made up of the three iconic 'BBC' blocks, features a smaller font and blocks which are slightly further apart than the ones featured in the former logo.
Insiders told the Sun that taxpayers' money was used to fund the minimal redesign with the newspaper reporting the costs ran into the 'tens of thousands of pounds'.
